The 6th meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of Institut Pasteur of Shanghai (IPS) was held in Hangzhou on Oct. 29-Nov. 1. SAB committee composed of 8 scientists including member of SAB and invited experts from Germany, France, the Netherlands and China, PIs and visiting professors of IPS attended the meeting.
In the first section of the meeting, Prof. Bing Sun, Co- director of IPS introduced the research direction of IPS. He pointed out that the core objective of IPS is to establish a unique research platform and to develop key technologies, so as to provide technical support for clinical treatment and prevention of infectious diseases. Prof. Hans Klenk from Institute of Virology, Marburg, Germany, Prof. Linqi Zhang, Director of Comprehensive AIDS Research Center of Tsinghua University gave their presentations on the research progress in influenza virus, HIV vaccine: challenges and opportunities respectively.
In the second section, each PI reported the progress and perspectives of his research team. Each PI received very helpful comments and suggestions from SAB Committee. The SAB Committee gave very positive comments on the missions of IPS which oriented to national strategic needs. A further effort to concentrate research objectives and team work are recommended. A more detailed writing report will be given to IPS by the SAB Committee soon.
