On May 16, Institut Pasteur of Shanghai (IPS) had welcomed with great honor Prof. Wang Longde, Vice-Minister of Health. Prof. Chen Zhu, Vice President of CAS accompanied Prof. Wang for the visit.

　　After a brief introduction of the background of the creation of IPS given by Prof. Chen Zhu, Prof. Vincent Deubel, Director General made a general introduction of IPS progress including key research directions, research team construction, international and national collaboration, education and training activities. Prof. Deubel also briefed the recent results achieved by IPS researchers in differential diagnostic technology, influenza and SARS, HIV, etc. He expressed the strong wish of IPS to collaborate with medical partners to contribute to the public health in China.

　　Prof. Wang visited labs of Emerging Diseases, Anti-Viral Immunology and Genetic Therapy, RNA polymerase and the Training Center afterwards.

　　At the end of his visit, Prof.Wang expressed his strong wish for international cooperation in the field of life science and affirmed his support to the cooperation between CAS institutes and medical institutes and universities.

　　At the invitation of Prof. Deubel, Prof. Wang signed in the IPS Livre d’or: ‘To enhance the international cooperation, to develop life science research, to benefit public’. His beautiful Chinese calligraphy impressed everybody.
