The new Institut Pasteur Board of Directors held its first meeting on November 24, 2016 and elected as its Chairman French Council of State Department Head Christian Vigouroux. Christian Vigouroux takes over from Rose-Marie Van Lerberghe.

At this meeting, the Institut Pasteur Board of Directors also elected the other members. During his term as Chairman, Christian Vigouroux will be assisted by:

Hubert du Mesnil, Ponts et Chaussées engineer and Chairman of Tunnel Euralpin Lyon-Turin, who was elected as Vice Chairman,

Sophie Mantel, department head, Deputy Director of the Budget at the Budget Division of the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance, who was elected as Treasurer,

Professor Fabrice Chrétien, Head of the Human Histopathology and Animal Models Unit at the Institut Pasteur and Head of the Neuropathology Department at Sainte-Anne Hospital, who was elected as Secretary.
A Vice Chairman with a scientific background will also be appointed to the bureau from among the board members.

Christian Vigouroux previously served as President of the French Council of State Department on Reports and Studies. A graduate of the Institute of Political Studies in Paris and the French National School of Administration, in 1981 he joined the Ministry of Urban Development and Planning as Legal Advisor, and subsequently became Deputy Director of Urban Development and Planning. In 1985, he was appointed as Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Universities. Christian Vigouroux was Government Commissioner for the Judicial Assembly and other French Council of State judicial formations from 1986 to 1989, and was then appointed as Private Secretary to the French Minister for the Interior. In 1992, he joined the French Council of State Public Works and Administrative Claims Divisions as Government Commissioner, and from 1994 to 1997 was Rapporteur General of the High Commission for Codification. In 1997, he was appointed as Private Secretary to the French Minister of Justice, then in 2000, Private Secretary to the Minister of Employment and Solidarity. In 2002, he was appointed President of the 10th sub-division of the Administrative Claims Division, then Deputy President of this division from 2008 to 2012. From May 2012 to March 2013, he was Private Secretary to the French Minister of Justice.
Christian Vigouroux chaired the “Deontology and independence of expert appraisal” group of the French National Authority for Health from its inception in 2006 until August 1, 2012. He was also associate university professor from 1996 to 2012. He is the author of the book "Déontologie des fonctions publiques", 2e éd 2012.
