The transcription and regulation of RNA, as the beginning of the gene expression event, play a crucial role in microbial gene function, regulation and metabolism. The make of RNA is not only the basis of microbial physiology, and also the driver of new biological principles and new-generation biotechnologies, generating profound impact on microbial infection control and ONE Health at the global scale. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Shanghai Society for Microbiology, the first "Shanghai Symposium on Microbial RNA and Transcription Regulation" will be held on January 13, 2024 at the Shanghai Institute of Immunity and Infection (SIII) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The symposium will focus on the theme of "microbial gene expression regulation", covering topics including bacterial transcription mechanisms, viral gene transcription regulation, Microbial RNA function and infection, nucleic acid-based biotechnology and others. This symposium will invite a number of well-known experts to talk about the latest progress and development in the related fields. The symposium provides a professional platform for researchers engaged in basic microbiology, encourages collaboration and innovation, and promotes the developments of the fundamental microbiology.
